A long time waiting
Hello everyone!
It's been a very busy time for me these past few months. I totally
forgot about the news section here and for that, I apologize.
What's new? Well, first and foremost, I made a small guest
appearance in Marvel Masterpieces part 2 this year featuring an
extremely limited amount of sketch cards from me plus possibly
the best ink renders I ever done on any sketch card set prior.
I was happy to do so for a company that gave me my first shot to
prove myself and later form something that ended up being a life
changing experience. =)
I paid extra attention to detail and refined my work to sharpen the
line art without losing that grittiness I so love.
How far can I keep raising the bar before I go ker'plunk!?
That's what I'm trying to find out.
And I will be very honest... I'm not breaking a sweat just yet.
But do not mistaken my eagerness to succeed with cockiness.
I've no reason to be cocky and this is definitely not a struggle to be
better than everyone or anything like that. This is all about me
trying to bring out the very best in myself.
People give others advice not to work so hard unless the price is
right. I'm here to say, first know yourself, then work your butt off
regardless to bring out the best possibilities from your own blood
sweat and tears.
Of course, I'm not saying to live your life sweating for pennies.
As you are rockin it like theres no tomorrow, also try to make the
right moves, dodge bullets, but DO NOT half ass your own
namesake just because someone tells you its wrong or because
you think the world already knows you and now you have nothing
else more to prove.
You must find out just how powerful you really are.
If you don't care to do so, then perhaps thats what defines you as
a person.
And if that's the case, why not take a nice long vacation or get
involved in something else that might spark a flame inside you
again? Live it!
My main point here is, people once told me "Nar don't work too
hard. You're stupid if you draw that much for a buck. Waste of
good talent blah blah blah, etc etc"
But I had a plan. And I knew what it was going to take to get it
right. But what I didn't know was, would I have reached it like I did?
With that in mind, it was a risk I felt I had to take.
And it was most certainly not easy.
But I gotta tell ya, it's because I busted my ass time and time
again, that I'm now making a living out of drawing sketch cards.
And I wont even have to draw that many a month. Sometimes 2, or
3 a month. Maybe not even that. And its not about money or
anything like that to begin with, but it does make me smile to be
able to show those people my outcome from not being a lazy
bumb.
This won't last forever, but longevity has always been a part of my
goal once I've found the right tune. And one way to keep things
rockin, is to keep amazing the heck out of people. That means,
raising the bar every so often.
Ok, so enough of that. =)
Now the real news! The fan favorite Rittenhouse Archives will be
releasing the Fantastic Four Archives card set soon and I'm
happy to announce that I will be rockin that set along with many
known super fantastic artists! It will be an honor to be a part of
this set. And I'm so eager to test out my latest abilities and
finishes with that card set. =)
There will be no dupes in my set. And all will be full colored as
required. I will announce the amount of cards as soon as
Rittenhouse does so first to make sure all cards turned in are
approved.
